For Immediate Release
April 1, 2019
The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office will monitor the polls on Tuesday, April 2, for any voting irregularities, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Voters can call the prosecutor's Public Corruption Unit at (816)-881-3111. Some examples of the types of irregularities that the prosecutor's office will monitor include potential voter fraud or abuses of voter rights. This might include acts or threats of violence towards a voter with the intent of denying that person the right to vote; knowingly telling a voter false information about voting for the purpose of preventing any person from going to the polls; bribing a voter to either vote for or against a specific candidate or issue; interfering or attempting to interfere with any voter inside a polling place.
The Public Corruption Unit will monitor the phone -- (816) 881-3111 -- while polls are open. Witnesses are encouraged to call immediately if they have concerns.
