A Jackson County judge on Monday found an Independence man guilty of multiple felony counts, including Felony Murder in the 2nd Degree, for fleeing police and causing a fatal car accident that also injured two others, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Andrew J. Stark, dob: 8/30/1991, was found guilty of Felony Murder in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree, Resisting a Legal Stop, Driving While Revoked and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
Stark will be sentenced in June.
According to court records, Stark was driving a vehicle that crashed into the vehicle driven by Jason Lewis on Jan. 13, 2014, killing Lewis and injuring two passengers in his vehicle. Stark left the scene. Independence police had earlier initiated pursuit of Stark's vehicle after it was seen traveling as excessive speed, in excess of 100 mph.
