Two Kansas City men, ages 18 and 20, have been charged in the fatal shooting on July 27, 2020, at an Independence convenience store, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Sean Matlock, dob: 2/5/2000, and Korey C. Matlock, dob: 11/2001, face Murder 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery and two counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, the defendants knowingly participated in a drug transaction that resulted in the fatal shooting of SirJohn R. Harris at a 7-11 convenience store on 40 Highway on July 27, 2020. Surveillance video at the store captured the attempted robbery and fatal shooting.
The fatal shooting of SirJohn R. Harris remains under investigation.
Prosecutors requested $100,000 bonds.
