A 26-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting on Wednesday night of a man inside a vehicle, which was recorded as the 45th homicide in Kansas City this year, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Carl L. Farnsworth Jr, dob: 10/17/1992, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
According to court records, a witness, a woman who was driving a vehicle in which the defendant and the victim, Dwayne Sutton, were passengers told police she had a ringing in her ears as she was driving, looked over and saw the victim had been shot. Then she saw the defendant waving around a firearm. She called 911 and drove to a gasoline station on Blue Ridge Boulevard. The defendant went to a nearby restaurant. The defendant was taken into custody near there after a short pursuit. A spent shell matched a firearm that the witness stated was left behind by the defendant.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
