An Independence 17-year-old has been charged with robbery in connection with the violent act of holding a gun to another teen's head, which was widely shared on social media, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Alexander A. Schrader, dob: 6/24/2001, faces Robbery 1st Degree, a Class A felony in Missouri.
According to court records filed today, Independence police were alerted to a reported assault of a 13-year-old boy. He was assaulted while walking in the area of E. Angus Street and South Pearl in Independence. The defendant held a pistol to the victim's head. Minor bruising was observed on the victim's face. The victim told police that money was taken from him during the assault. The defendant turned himself in to Independence police and confessed to putting a gun to the victim's head. A juvenile who videotaped the incident also was interviewed by police and turned over to juvenile authorities.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $100,000 cash.
