Jackson County prosecutors today charged Fredrick Scott, who already facing charges in two south Kansas City homicides in 2017, now faces charges in connection with the fatal shooting this summer of Karen Harmeyer, dob: 11/7/1952, whose body was found in Grandview, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Scott, dob: 11/18/1994, now faces three counts of Murder 1st Degree and three counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
An indictment listing Harmeyer's death and the cause of death, shooting, was released today. Harmeyer's body was found in JUly 2017.
No further information is being released as the case remains under investigation. In August, Baker announced charges against Scott for the murders of Steven Gibbons, 57, and John Palmer, 56. Gibbons was killed near 67th and Troost Avenue and Palmer was fatally shot on Indian Creek Trail in the area of 99th and Holmes. Scott, who is being held in Jackson County on a $500,000 bond, was also named as a suspect in other homicides in the area.
Baker thanked the Grandview Police Department for its work in investigating the Harmeyer homicide and sharing the information with Kansas City police detectives. Without their investigative efforts, she said, adding this charge would have not been possible.
