A 38-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting inside a residence in the 2800 block of Kensington in Kansas City last Saturday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Rodreko V. Jennings, dob: 7/27/1979, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Kensington Avenue on a reported shooting. They found the victim, Michael J. Hooker, fatally wounded by gunshots. A witness told police that the defendant had arrived at the residence early that day, June 23, 2018, and started yelling at the victim regarding a female. The victim began to show the defendant his phone and the defendant fired several shots. The defendant fled the scene. Another witness heard the shooting on the phone, while she talked to the victim. When she went to the residence, she found the victim dead on the floor, behind a couch.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash.
