Two KC-area men who were doing car stunts on Interstate 70 after 2 a.m. on June 12, 2022, have been charged in connection with them confronting and firing shots at others trying to pass through in order to get a child to the hospital, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Noah D. Miller, dob: 12/21/1998, faces Assault 2nd Degree, while Nicholas B. Benkowich, dob: 4/11/1999, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Miller was driving a vehicle and participating in a “side show” in the middle of the interstate at 13th Street on June 12, 2022, about 2:30 a.m., when the victims hit his vehicle while attempting to pass through the "side show" in order to take their child to the hospital. Miller and his passenger, Benkowich, began pursing the victims' vehicle for several miles. Benkowich fired a gun at the victims vehicle, striking it multiple times. After the shooting, the two defendants fled the scene.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $25,000/10 percent for Miller and $50,000/10 percent for Benkowich.
