A Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting in July 2017 of Charles Williams Jr, who was found deceased inside a residence in the 2500 block of Van Brunt Boulevard, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Branden L. Hendren, dob: 8/26/1993, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, a codefendant in the case, Felipe Reyna, told police detectives in a statement last month that the defendant shot a handgun at the victim. Reyna also admitted he shot the victim with a shotgun. A witness told police in 2017 that the victim had no weapon and had not made any threatening moves toward the shooters. But the suspects opened fire on the victim. Reyna fired a shotgun, the witness stated. And the defendant fired a handgun.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $500,000 cash.
