A 27-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal stabbing sometime near March 15, 2019 of Ladajah Oliver, whose body was found inside an apartment in the 6400 block of Manchester in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Keyon D. Patterson, dob: 12/25/ 1991, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police responded on March 15, 2019, to the 6400 block of Manchester and found the victim's body inside an apartment. The Medical Examiner ruled the death was a homicide caused by multiple stab wounds. The victim's vehicle was reported missing. Video survellance at the victim's apartment showed her and a passenger arriving at the apartment complex on March 12. Family members advised she had been in a relationship with someone named Keyon. They provided a Facebook account and police identified this person to be the defendant. The victim's vehicle was located near 51st and Swope Parkway. It had a large amount of what appeared to be blood inside. Cell phone records showed the last four calls on her cell phone were from a phone number that belonged to the defendant. Cell tower mapping of the phone showed it near the vicitm's apartment on March 13 and March 14. Analysis of DNA from a bloody handprint inside the apartment where the victim was found deceased showed DNA from the victim as well as the defendant.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 cash.
