A Jackson County jury today convicted Dontae Jefferson in the shooting of a boy and the murder of his father at a gas station near 45th and Cleveland, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The jury returned guilty verdicts for Jefferson, 30, on counts of Murder 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. Sentencing will be Oct. 27, at 1:30 p.m.
Jefferson was accused of fatally shooting a man and wounding his then-10-year-old son in April 2014 as they sat in a vehicle at a gas station near 45th and Cleveland.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Theresa Crayon and Lauren Barrett prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
