.A Jackson County jury on Friday convicted a Kansas City man, 37, in the March 2021 fatal shooting of Michael Uttley, as well as a burglary in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Brandon L. Pritchard, dob: 9/9/1985, was convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter, Armed Criminal Action and Burglary. He will be sentenced at a April 27 sentencing hearing. Becuase the defendant is a persistent offender, the Voluntary Manslaughter and Burglary charges will be sentenced as A felonies.
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched March to the 400 block of White Avenue on a reported shooting. Officers found the victim in the front foyer, deceased. Officers found shell casings inside the residence. A witness said the defendant had been yelling outside the residence in a threatening manner. The defendant entered the house and shot the victim.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Dan Portnoy and Andrea Herron prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
