A 27-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting on Nov. 10, 2017 of three persons -- Jennifer L. Zimmerman, Victor Portillo and Yesseria Ahumada, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Deaundre J. Brown, dob: 11/4/1990, faces three counts of Murder 2nd Degree and three counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, a witness provided the name of the defendant as a potential suspect. He was the ex-boyfriend of one victim. The witness stated he heard conversations between the defendant and the victims about a potential drug deal the next morning, the day of the fatal shootings. Police recovered text messages between that victim and the defendant the evening before the shootings were reported. He told the victim he was coming to the residence, where victims were shot. Surveillance video of vehicles in the area the day of the homicides, as well as cell phone records, placed the defendant near the crimes.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $500,000 cash.
