A Jackson County jury has convicted a Lee's Summit man of multiple child-sex offenses and recommended more than 100 years in a state prison, if the sentences are set to run consecutively, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The jury late Wednesday convicted Abraham J. Gilbert, dob: 8/11/1985, of five counts of Child Molestation 1st Degree and two counts of Statutory Sodomy 1st Degree. The jury recommended 15 years in prison as a sentence for each of the Child Molestation convictions and 17 and 34 years on the Statutory Sodomy convictions. If set to run consecutively, those would total more han 100 years. A judge will sentence the defendant on Jan. 24.
According to court records, the victim disclosed in April 2016 to Lee's Summit police that years earlier she has been sexually assaulted by the defendant in her home when she was a child.
Jackson County Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Kelly Collins and Kristin Ries prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
