For Immediate Release
Aug. 5, 2016

A 20-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the July 16, 2016, fatal shooting of Malik Barbour in Lee's Summit, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Terrell A. Ingram, dob: 11/14/1995, faces charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*

According to court records, Lee's Summit police responded in the early morning of July 16, 2016 in the area of the 1500 block of SE Long Place in Lee's Summit, MO. Police found the victim, identified as Malik Barbour, on the sidewalk. He had suffered from gunshots and was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness saw the victim in a verbal confrontation with the suspect, who stepped out of the vehicle and shot up to six times. The suspect paused, then approached the victim and fired two more shots. The suspect then fled as a passenger in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

According to court records, Lee's Summit police detectives, talking to witnesses, identified the driver of the Jeep Cherokee. That driver said he took Ingram in his vehicle from the scene. Surveillance video from a Kansas City convenience store showed the driver and the defendant together in the same vehicle the day before the homicide. A witness who saw the shooting identified the driver and the defendant as the persons at the scene and the defendant as the person who shot Barbour. Police also found clothing that matched the clothing worn the night of the homicide by the shooter.

Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
