A 44-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting this Tuesday evening of Michael Lorthridge and the wounding of another victim in a south Kansas City residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Germon Deangelo Stevens, dob: 7/27/1974, faces Murder 1st Degree, Domestic Assault 1st Degree, Domestic Assault 3rd Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police responded on the evening of June 11, 2019, to the 7800 block of 118th Terrace on a reporting shooting. They found two victims, a man and a woman, suffering from gunshots. The female victim told police that her boyfriend came the residence and was arguing with her brother. The boyfriend then shot her brother before fleeing the scene. The homicide victim, before he was transported from the scene, called a witness and identified his shooter. Michael Lorthridge, dob: 12/26/1978, died as a result of his injuries. The suspect left the scene in a grey or silver Cadillac bearing the Missouri license plate of TA9-U9H, which was located a short distance from the crime scene. It had been wrecked and abandoned. Spent shell casings were recovered at the scene.
