A Jackson County judge on Wednesday sentenced Damon Kerr to 24 years in prison for the Nov. 35, 2018, fatal shooting of Donna McKeown, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The judge sentenced Kerr, dob 7/12/1975, to 24 years on his Murder 2nd Degree conviction and three years on Armed Criminal Action. The judge set those sentences to run concurrently.
A Jackson County jury found Kerr guilty of those charges in a trial that concluded in early March..
According to court records, Kansas City police responded on Nov. 25, 2018, to the 3400 block of East 54th Street on a reported shooting. Officers found the victim in the front seat of a Dodge Avenger. She had been shot in the neck. She was later declared deceased at the hospital. The victim was mother of three children of the defendant, who initially denied shooting the victim.
Assistant Jackson County Prosecutors Theresa Crayon, Danielle Sediqzad and Andrea Herron prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
