A 17-year-old Liberty man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting of Charles Cecil early Friday in the Northeast area of Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Joshua Reese, dob: 6/19/2001, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records filed this weekend, witnesses told police that early Friday the defendant shot the victim, who had recently been evicted and was staying in a staircase at an abandoned school building in the 3500 block of Anderson Avenue in the Old Northeast area of Kansas City. Witnesses said shots were fired after there had been an argument over the cost of a marijuana that the victim was going to sell. Numerous spent shell casings were found at the crime scene.
Prosecutors requested a $750,000 bond.
