KC man, 18, charged in fatal shooting on Feb. 17, 2019, of Lakeasha Taylor inside East 12th Terrace residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Marlon D. Davis Jr., dob: 5/10/2000, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, police responded the morning of Feb. 17 to the 6400 block of East 12th Terrace in Kansas City on a reported shooting. They found Lakeasha Taylor, dob: 6/29/1996, deceased from a gunshot wound. A single shell casing was located in the room with the body. Several witnesses told police the victim and the defendant were among several people staying at the residence. They were poking fun at each other and laughing. The victim made a joking or sarcastic comment about how the defendant didn't pay rent. The defendant became angry, according to witnesses. He left the room, came back with a handgun and shot the victim one time in the chest. Then, he fled on foot with the gun. Witnesses identified the defendant as the shooter.
Prosecutors requested a $500,000 bond.
