A 42-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the June 15, 2020, fatal beating of Hoang Dinh in the Northeast area of Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Antoine Cotton, dob: 8/30/1979, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, Kansas City police responded on June 15, 2020, to the area of Thompson and Askew Avenues in Kansas City’s Northeast area. Officers found the victim Hoang Dinh with severe head trauma. He was deceased. A window sash weight was located near his head. Witnesses told police that the victim and the defendant had agreed to help them lift a couch into a truck when the defendant suddenly began hitting the victim in the head with an object he picked up off of the ground. "I got him. I told him I was going to get him," the defendant stated after hitting the victim, one witness told police.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000.
