A 43-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting of Donna McKeown on Nov. 25, 2018, in the 3400 block of East 54th Street, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Damon Kerr, dob: 7/12/1975, faces charges of Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, police were dispatched in the morning of Nov. 25, 2018,to a residence on East 54th Street in Kansas City regarding a shooting. The victim was in the front seat of a vehicle. She had been shot in the left side of her neck and later died. The defendant told police he had gone out to the car and talked to the victim and went inside, then heard a shot. The Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide and observed no evidence of close-range fire. The defendant denied shooting the victim even after he was told there was no evidence she shot herself at close range.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 cash.
