A 26-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting in September 2020 of Elier Alejandro Pinon-Anchondo in a East Gregory Boulevard residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Nicolas Saldana-Damian, dob: 12/10/1994, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, Kansas City police responded on Sept. 14, 2020, to the 3600 block of Gregory regarding a dead body. A witness stated he had found the victim in a residence. The Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide. A witnesses stated the last contact from the victim had been Sept. 5, 2020. On Sept. 7, 2020, police were dispatched to a vehicle on fire in the area of Gregory and Askew. Police established that the defendant was one of the two men at the residence when the victim was dropped off there. A witness told police he was at the residence with the victim and another person when was told by the defendant to step outside. Then he heard six gunshots and the defendant had him come inside and verify that the victim was dead. He added that the defendant stated he shot the victim because he owed the victim $5000 and he didn't want to pay him. The defendant told police he and the victim argued and the victim had a gun. He took i from victim, got into another fight and the defendant said he shot him. He tossed the body down the basement steps in an effort to hide it.
The defendant is in custody. He earlier was charged with Abandonment of a Corpse.
Prosecutors requested a $300,000 cash bond.
