A 15-year-old Lee's Summit youth faces a charge of Murder in the 1st Degree in connection with the homicide of Tanya L. Chamberlain, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Trevon M. Henry, dob: 11/30/2000, faces Murder 1st Degree, Robbery in the 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, Lee's Summit Police stopped a vehicle early in the morning of Nov. 1, 2015, on SE 2nd Street in Lee's Summit. The driver and a passenger ran. Inside the vehicle, police found the homicide victim, Tanya Chamberlain. They also found a knife covered with blood and hair. The victim had been stabbed or cut. Surveillance video, witness and tips led Lee's Summit police to the two suspects. The 13-year-old boy who was with Henry told police that the defendant planned to stab the victim to take her vehicle and he described the defendant cutting and stabbing her.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
