A 21-year-old Grandview man has been charged in the murder this weekend of Marcus Mondaine, who was found shot inside a Kansas City apartment, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Damon Hammons, dob: 4/28/1995, faces Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, police were dispatched Saturday to an apartment in the 4000 block of East 56th Terrace in Kansas City on a reported shooting. They found the victim in the bedroom, suffering from a gunshot wound. Witnesses told police she was in the apartment with the victim and her 1-year-old daughter, when Hammons entered the residence and forced his way into the bedroom, where the victim was sleeping. Hammons shot him once. The woman grabbed her daughter and the suspect pointed his gun at her and her daughter. "Are you going to tell on me, are you going to tell on me?" he asked the woman. The suspect fled the scene as the woman called police.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000 cash. Hammons is not yet in custody.
