A 21-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old victim, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Derek D. Bridgewater, dob: 2/10/1995, faces Rape in the 1st Degree, Sodomy in the 1st Degree and Felonious Restraint.*
According to court records, the victim disclosed in a forensic interview that the suspect took her to a relative's house on South Benton in February 2016 and held a knife against her throat and threatened to kill her and her family if she did not stay the night. He cut her on the arm. He recorded the victim performing oral sex on him and also raped her. She was allowed to leave to go to school. The victim is now pregnant due to the sexual assault.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000.
