A Kansas City teen, 17, has been charged as an adult in the Feb. 14, 2018, fatal shooting of David Willard inside a residence in th e 2600 block of Cleveland on Feb. 14, 2018, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Zaire A. Williams, dob: 5/31/2001, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police responded to the 2600 blok of Cleveland on a reported shooting. They found the victim, dob: 11/1/1978, dead on the kitchen floor. The Jackson County Medical Examiner ruled the death was a homicide caused by gunshots. Witnesses told police that the defendant had earlier been agitated and upset. Later, they heard gunshots and saw the defendant with a gun. Police later found a gun hidden in the basement. It matched description of the one that the defendant used in the shooting.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash.
Williams, who was 16 at the time of the shooting, was certified earlier today by a Family Court judge to stand trial as an adult.
