An 18-year-old Raytown man has been charged in an April 18 shooting on the street in Raytown, seriously injuring another man, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
David A. Turner, dob: 6/25/1998, faces Assault 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, late on April 18, 2017, Raytown police responded to the area of 56th and Woodson on a reported shooting. Police looked for a suspect and found the defendant, matching suspect description, in the area of 58th and Westridge. He had a handgun and shell casing in his pocket. The defendant told police that the victim had approached him, exchanged words and appeared aggressive, so he fired a handgun multiple times, hitting him in the chest. Hospital emergency room doctors told a detective the victim was shot in the back.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $100,000.
