A Kansas City man, 19, has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting on Aug. 1 of Michael W. Brown in front of a residence near 12th and Lawndale in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Thorne McKendrick, dob: 12/26/2000, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched on a reported shooting to the area of 12th and Lawndale. Outside a residence in the 5600 block of E. 12th Street police found the victim, Michael W. Brown, suffering from a gunshot. The victim later died at the hospital. Security video showed the defendant ride up on a bicycle, then get into a vehicle in front of the residence. The victim is seen walking to the vehicle when defendant gets out of the vehicle. They struggle and the defendant shoots the victim. Witnesses identified the defendant as the person who exhibited a gun or who shot the victim.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash.
