A second defendant, William Luth, has been charged in connection with the Feb. 9, 2016, rape of a woman in her Independence apartment, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Luth, dob: 2/8/1992, of Grain Valley, MO., faces Rape or Attempted Rape 1st Degree.*
According to court records, the victim told Independence police that men broke into her apartment on Feb. 9, 2016. They covered her face with her pants and raped her as her little girl slept next to her in bed. A co-defendant in the Independence assault told Johnson County detectives that he and Luth entered the Independence apartment of the victim and participated n the sexual assault. Luth's phone records showed he was his phone was in the area of the Independence rape at the time.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $100,000.
