A Grandview man was sentenced to six years in prison today for spraying gun shots in Westport one night in July 2018 and injuring two persons, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Davontae McCutchen, dob: 12/19/1993, pleaded guilty to two counts of Assault 2nd Degree and one count of Resisting Arrest.*
A Jackson County judge on Friday sentenced McCutchen to six years in prison on each Assault 2nd Degree conviction and four years on the Resisting Arrest conviciton. He set all the sentences to run concurrently.
According to court records, a Kansas City police officer working off-duty in the Westport Business District observed the defendant draw a handgun from his waistband and fire in the direction of a crowd of people, injuring two person. The officers pursued the defendant on foot and took him into custody. The handgun fell onto the ground. The gun in the defendant's possession was reported stolen from a car in Kansas City in 2016.
