A Kansas City man faces murder charges in the Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, fatal shooting of Robert A. Witmer, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
John L. Williamson, dob: 10/30/1986, faces Murder 2nd Degree, the Misdemeanor charge of Violation of Order of Protection for Adult and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, a witness told police who responded to the scene of the shooting that "John Lynn Williamson" shot him. And he pointed toward where Williamson lives. Officers found the defendant and a handgun in the shed where he lives. A witness told police that the victim and Williamson had been in an argument. The victim picked up a rock and Williamson said he would shoot him.
Williamson already was being held on a $200,000 bond for violation of an order of protection.
