The 20-year-old daughter of Stacey M. Bell, who was found stabbed to death in her south Kansas City home on Aug. 9, 2020, has been charged in her mother’s murder, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Alina M. Bell, dob: 2/16/2000, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police were dispatched to the 8100 block of Ward Parkway Plaza in south Kansas City after a family member had observed the victim lying in the living room of the residence and discovered the back door open. The victim had been stabbed. Officers responding to the scene located Alina Bell, daughter of the victim, inside a bedroom. She was screaming and had blood on her body and clothing. Officers had her transported to Research Medical Center for treatment. Inside, officers found a large knife, covered in what appeared to be blood. A family member had observed the defendant screaming at the victim, but later that evening the defendant apparently had calmed down. The next day, the defendant did not answer calls from the family member.
The family asked that they be given privacy at this time. They referred all questions to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors requested a $100,000 bond.
