An Independence man has been charged in robbery Monday evening at the Independence Costco, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Tony M. Taylor, dob: 2/07/1973, faces Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records, Taylor exited Lowes with nearly $1000 in merchandise that he failed to purchase. He produced a knife and pointed at a person attempting to stop him. Still holding the knife, he fled through the Lowes parking lot. He grabbed a customer around the necked, dropped merchandise and ran. He attempted to enter several vehicles before he ran to gas pumps at Costco. He pulled a woman out of her car at the gas pumps and tried to lock her out but the victim still had the keys. Several citizens then restrained Taylor until police arrived. The victim was transported to an area hospital.
Prosecutors have requested a $75,000 bond.
