Two Jackson County men were charged today in the fatal shooting early Wednesday of a 46-year-old Blue Springs man at a residence in the 1700 block of SW Parkridge, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Malik S. Duren, 17, of Kansas City, and Mahki I. Hall, 18, of Grain Valley, MO, each face Robbery 1st Degree, Burglarly 1st Degree, Murder 2nd Degree and three counts of Armed Criminal Action.* The Murder 2nd Degree charge cites that the victim, Luis Cedres, was killed as a result of being shot during the perpetration of a felony, the Burglary.
According to court records filed today, the victims were inside a residence in the 1700 block of SW Parkridge Drive in Blue Springs when three men entered with handguns. They had covered faces, but one victim recognized one of the intruders. Cedres was downstairs and went outside, but he was shot. A witness told Blue Springs police that he saw two men fighting outside the residence. One had Cedres in a head lock. Then the suspect pointed a gun at the victim as he tried to run off, firing three more shots. One suspect was injured by a gun shot.
The case remains under investigation.
Prosecutors requested bonds of $250,000 and $150,000 on the defendants.
