A Grandview woman who was working as a hair stylist in a barber shop on Troost Avenue has been charged in connection with the shooting of a customer inside the shop, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Sabriah U. Brewster, dob: 7/19/1986, faces Assault 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court documents, Kansas City police officers responded to a barber shop in the 3400 block of Troost Avenue in Kansas City in the evening on Saturday (June 30, 2018) on a reported shooting. They found the scene bloody and abandoned. A man reported from Research Hospital he had been shot there by the defendant, who was working as a hair stylist at the time. He told police he made a hair appointment with her earlier in the day. She was cutting someone else's hair, when she pointed a gun at the victim. He had a weapon on him but told police at no time did he have it in view. He added that he had no relationship with the defendant and had been in no argument. The defendant told police that she did not know a shooting had occureed there and had never seen a shooting and had not shot anyone.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $100,000 cash.
