A 61-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing Saturday evening in the Northeast area of Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
David F. Cornell, dob: 1/17/1961, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police officers responding October 1, 2022, to the 500 block of Gladstone Blvd and found the victim, James Fisher, fatally wounded in front of a residence. He had been stabbed once in the neck. A witness told police that the victim and defendant had been in a dispute. They appeared to exchange punches. Then the witness saw blood coming from the victim and a blade in the hand of the defendant. Defendant he hit the victim with the knife during their altercation. He told police he hid the knife after stabbing the victim. After obtaining a search warrant, police found a knife in the defendant's apartment.
Prosecutors requested a $250,000 cash bond.
