A Kansas City man who fired a gun into a home in the 5700 block of Manchester on Aug. 19, 2016, killing Keenon Durham faces Murder and other felony counts, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Victor R. Nevels, dob: 12/3/1986, faces Murder in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a a Weapon and Endangering a Child in the 1st Degree. *
According to court records, Kansas City police responded to a reported shooting in the 5700 block of Manchester Avenue on Aug. 19, 2016. They found the victim inside, suffering from gunshot wounds. Witnesses told police they observed Nevels running from the residence just after shots were fired into the building. A witness told police she earlier saw Nevels driving by. And a witness said that after she heard the shots, she opened a bedroom door and saw the victim fall to the floor. She also saw Nevels moving away from the home.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $400,000.
