Murder 1st Degree and other felony counts have been filed in connection with the Jan. 2, 2021, fatal shooting of Linda Gantt outside a Kansas City residence, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Travon M. Williams, dob: 7/4/1995, faces Murder 1st Degree, Kidnapping and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed Friday, Kansas City police were dispatched on Jan. 12, 2021, to the 3600 block of Olive on reports of shots fired. Officers found the victim in a vehicle near 45th and Prospect Avenue. Rear window of the vehicle had been shattered. The victim was later pronounced deceased as a result of her gunshot wounds. Police recovered 19 9mm spent shell casings at the crime scene. Witnesses told police an argument had occurred outside a residence in the 3600 block of Olive. The driver of the vehicle that the victim was found in stated the suspect confronted them after they arrived at the Olive Street residence. When the driver pulled away, shots were fired. The victim soon stated she had been shot. A woman told police the defendant took her to Clinton in Henry County after the fatal shooting. Kansas City police detectives soon determined the suspect was in Henry County. The defendant was taken into custody and Kansas City police detectives recovered in Henry County a gun that was determined to have fired the shots on Olive. .
Prosecutors requested a $1 million cash bond.
