A Kansas City man, 27, faces several felony charges in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend Briana Johnson inside a Kansas City residence on Sunday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
DeCarlos D. Carrell, dob: 12/7/1992, faces Murder 2nd Degree, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and three counts of Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police responded in the early morning Sunday to the 7100 block of Bales on a reported shooting. Defendant, despite having two firearms convictions in his recent history, tracked down the victim at her friend’s house. He displayed the weapon to other individuals staying at the house and when he was turned away from the residence he fired a round into the house which struck and killed the victim. He then fired six more rounds into the victim’s car.
Prosecutors requested a $150,000 bond.
