A Kansas City man, 35, has been charged with multiple felonies after he was captured on a business surveillance video firing shots Saturday night in south Kansas City at a man the defendant said had shot him last month, leaving a 4-year-old child injured from the Saturday night gunfire, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Ellery H. Beals, dob: 10/25/1982, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon, an A Felony, Assault 2nd Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, Beals was captured on video surveillance cameras pointing a gun and shooting. He told police that he encountered another man who shot him last month, but denied shooting at him. As a result of the gunfire, a 4 year old child in a nearby residence was hit and suffered a broken arm. Property was also damaged from the gunfire.
The case remains under investigation. Prosecutors requested a bond of $100,000 cash.
