An altercation Monday in the parking lot of a Kansas City apartment complex led to fatal shooting of Cameron Douglas; now murder charges are filed for 21-year-old supsect, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

According to court records filed today, Kansas City police were dispatched to the 5300 block of Oak Leaf Drive in Kansas City on a reported shooting. Officers found the victim deceased on the front stoop of an apartment building. Eight shell casings were found at the scene. Surveillance video showed an encounter between the victim and the suspect. The victim turns to walk away, but he stops and turns back toward the suspect. The victim has his hands in his pockets. The suspect begins shooting. Then the victim runs and the suspect continues firing. The suspect gets in a vehicle, and it drives away. A witness at the scene at the time of the shooting told police the vicitm had his hands in his pockets. KC Crime Lab tests confirmed the shell casings found at the scene matched a gun recovered from a residence on East 113th Street, where the defendant went after the shooting.
Prosecutors requested a $500,000 bond.
