A second defendant has been charged in the Aug. 6, 2018, fatal shooting in Grandview of Dennis Gordon, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Steven Samson, dob: 10/14/1988, of Kansas City, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, police responded to the area of White Avenue and High Grove Road in Grandview in the early afternoon Monday. They found a man shot and another man holding him. The victim, Dennis Gordon, was pronounced dead at the scene and the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office said that gunshots caused the death. A witness told police that Gordon was shot by a man had been in an argument with days earlier at a convenience store. Video of that incident showed the defendant present. A search of the defendant's residence uncovered a weapon. Tests of that weapon found that the bullet that killed the victim was fired by the weapon purchased by the defendant.
Earlier, another defendant was charged in the case with Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
Prosecutors have requested a bond for Samson of $250,000 cash.
