A 30-year-old Kansas City man faces murder and other felony charges in connection with the April 6, 2017, fatal shooting of Elaine M. Segovia, whose body was found in a vehicle near Smart Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Corey D. Bibee, dob: 7/2/1987, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police responded on the morning of April 6, 2017 to a vehicle a parked on the south side of Smart Avenue. She was found shot to death. A receipt from the 7th Street Casino in Kansas City, Kan, was found in the pocket of the victim. Detectives viewed video showing the victim with a white male and female. Staff identified the male as Corey Bibee. Bibee told police that the victim was at the casino to gamble. He identified another female he met at the casino. The victim, the other female and Bibee left the casino. Before he left, he told witnesses that he and the victim were trying to rob the other female. He also stated the victim was killed as a result.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 cash.
