Four Jackson County jail inmates have been charged in a brutal assault on Aug. 26, 2017,of a corrections officer, who suffered a concussion and other injuries, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Stephen A. Curtner, dob: 12/19/1996; Rodney V. Rodgers, 5/3/1993; Osiris N. Sneed, dob: 7/31/1997, and Tyrone E. Willard, dob: 10/5/1996, each face Assault 3rd Degree, a Class D felony punishable by up to 7 years in prison.* In addition, Williard faces Misdemeanor Assault charges in connection with an an assault on Aug. 6, 2017 of a second corrections officer.*
According to court records filed today, the four defendants in the Aug. 26, 2017, assault on the 5th floor of the Jackson County Detention Facility planned and executed an attack on the corrections officer, punching him with closed fists and kicking him. In the Aug. 6 incident involving Willard, the inmate punched the corrections officer when the officer came out of his cell for medication. The corrections officer suffered head and facial injuries.
Prosecutors have requested $75,000 bond for each inmate.
