A Kansas City man is charged in the fatal shooting in January 2022 of Desmond Matthews at city BP station, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Shyrone H. Daniels, dob: 3/27/2004, faces Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Van Brunt in Kansas City. Officers found the victim, Desmond Matthews, dob: 4/2/2004 partially inside a vehicle in the BP gas station lot. Video surveillance showed a man confront the victim as they came face to face at the station. The man showed a handgun and pointed it at the victim and shot, striking him in the neck and upper back. A witness identified the shooter as the defendant.
Daniels was certified recently to stand trial as an adult.
