A 36-year-old Kansas City woman faces felony charges after one of her children was found lifeless in the residence on Wednesday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Michaela L. Chism, dob: 12/9/1985, faces two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st Degree.*
According to court records filed today, Kansas City police responded to the 6500 block of The Paseo on reports that a child had died in the residence. Kansas City police entered the residence to check on the welfare of the child. They found a deceased 3-year-old and another child who was unharmed. Officers also found what appeared to be drugs and drug paraphernalia. The defendant was taken into custody.
The investigation into the child's death continues and additional charges are possible.
Prosecutors requested a $150,000 cash bond.
