A Jackson County jury on Thursday convicted a Kansas City man who shot a metro bus passenger as bus pulled up to a bus stop in the Northeast area of Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
The jury convicted Larry J. Harris, dob: 2/2/1969, of Assault 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges. Harris will be sentenced by a Jackson County judge at a future sentencing hearing.
According to court records, on March 30, 2020, a Kansas City bus, near Independence Avenue and Olive, had pulled up to a bus stop when the defendant, according to witnesses, fired a shot into the bus from the sidewalk, hitting the victim, a bus passenger, in the back. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Ben Cox and Broc Exposito prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
