A Jackson County judge sentenced Danzel Reese today to 20 years in prison for the 2010 fatal shooting of Lance W. Rutter during a robbery in the 3800 block of Baltimore in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
A Jackson County convicted Reese, dob: 2/16/1992, of two felony counts, Involuntary Manslaughter and Robbery in the 1st Degree. On Thursday, a judge sentenced Reese to 7 years on the manslaughter conviction and 20 years on the robbery. The sentences were set to run concurrently.
Witnesses told police, according to court records, that the victim was sitting on his front porch when a suspect pointed a gun and demanded money. One man handed his wallet and ran away. The victim argued and the suspect shot him.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Jamie Hunt and Caitlin Brock prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.
