[ARCHIVED] Man charged in connection with 3-year-old’s fatal shooting

A Kansas City man has been charged with 1st Degree Murder in connection with the May 31, 2015, fatal shooting in Kansas City of 3-year-old Amorian Hale, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

SirTerry L. Stevenson, 22 (dob: 11/23/1992), faces Murder 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.*

According to court records, Stevenson was in the vehicle with D’Shawn Marchbanks, when Marchbanks was shot and killed on Jan. 30, 2015 in Grandview. Information was received that the shooting on May 31, 2015 of Amorian Hale was in retaliation for the shooting of Marchbanks. On May 31, 2015, multiple shots were fired into a home in the 6700 block of Walrond, one striking the 3-year-old boy. Witnesses in the area of the Walrond shooting told police a gold car was involved; On June 2, 2015, Stevenson led police on a chase in a gold car. His cell phone was shown to be in the area of Walrond shooting about the same time that the shots were fired that killed Hale. Stevenson told police he was driving a 1998 gold Buick on May 31, 2015 and he drove to the home where the shooting occurred, and he stated that a shooter fired shots into the home.

Stevenson is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

Prosecutors filed charges in mid June against Stevenson related to the May 31, 2015 homicide of Amorian Hale. But those charges were filed under seal. Late today, those charges were made public.

The case remains under investigation and the prosecutor’s office will not make any further comment.
