[ARCHIVED] Lee's Summit teenager sentenced in fatal stabbing from 2015

For Immediate Release

Feb. 22, 2019

A second teen has been sentenced to prison for the fatal stabbing in 2015 of Tanya L. Chamberlain, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

The 17-year-old Lee's Summit teenager was sentenced today by a Jackson County judge to 15 years in prison for his role in the fatal stabbing at a Lee's Summit carwash. Earlier this year, another teen was sentenced to life plus 50 years for the murder.

On Friday, Joshua R. Trigg, dob: 1/10/2002, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on each of four criminal charges -- Murder 2nd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree and two counts of Armed Criminal Action -- that he pleaded guilty to in November. The judge on Friday set those sentences to run concurrently.

Trigg, who was 13 at the time of the killing, was prosecuted as an adult, along with Trevon M. Henry, who was 14 when Tanya Chamberlain was stabbed to death inside her vehicle at a Lee's Summit carwash.

Henry, dob: 11/30/2000, in October pleaded guilty to four counts: Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Robbery 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. In early January, Henry was sentenced to life in prison plus 50 years on the second count. The judge also sentenced Henry to life on the third count (Robbery 1st Degree) plus 50 years on the second Armed Criminal Action charge. The judge set the counts 3 and 4 to run consecutively to counts 1 and 2.
